Inside the Muse Lab: A New Muse Avatar Every Hour

Most collections on AllTheMuse were built once and finished. The Lab Collection never finishes. It is the shelf for everything brewed by the Muse Lab, the hourly workshop that creates a new Muse avatar around the clock — and it already holds 154 Muses, each labeled with when it was brewed. This guide explains how the Lab works, introduces the newest drops from today, October 14, shows exactly what a Lab Muse costs, and walks through how to collect one from the full list of 77 collections.

What the Muse Lab Is

The Muse Lab is the site's own creation engine. Where the themed rooms — Pirates, Royals, Science, Spooky Season — were designed as fixed sets, the Lab brews new Muses every hour and files them in one growing room: the Lab Collection, whose own description reads simply, "Born in the Muse Lab." Every Muse in that room carries the creator credit Muse Lab and a brewing label, so you can tell at a glance not just what a character is, but when it arrived.

That hourly rhythm changes how collecting feels. A themed room is a finish line — ten Muses, a bundle, a completed shelf. The Lab is a stream. Come back tomorrow and the room is longer than you left it, with names that did not exist yesterday. It is also why the Lab Collection, at 154 Muses, is one of the largest rooms on the site even though it is organized by arrival rather than by theme.

Today's Newest Brews: The October 14 Drops

The freshest end of the shelf shows how wide the Lab ranges in a single day. Today's newest batches alone span four different moods: Nellie Northpost and Holly Tinsel are Christmas Muses, Vera Vine is a farm Muse, Kingsley Knight and Theo Tock are math Muses, and Bea Bubbles and Remy Rescue are pet Muses. One workshop, one day, four completely different shelves' worth of characters.

Prices stay easy to read because Lab Muses follow the same rarity ladder as every other Muse on the site. Every Common in today's batches is 50 Muse Coins, and the two Rares — Kingsley Knight and Theo Tock — are 75 each. There is no separate Lab pricing, no drop fee, and no auction: the rarity printed on the Muse's page is the price, the same way it works in the Gallery and every themed room.

How a Lab Muse Is Priced

Lab Muses use the one site-wide ladder, as Muse Coin prices explained lays out: Common 50, Rare 75, Epic 100, Legendary 150, and Mythic 200 Muse Coins. Most hourly drops land at the first two rungs — today's seven newest are five Commons at 50 and two Rares at 75 — which makes the newest end of the Lab shelf some of the most affordable collecting on the site. A new account's 150 welcome coins, credited all at signup, cover all five of today's Commons with 100 coins to spare.

Rarity carries one more detail worth knowing. The two Rares in today's batches, Kingsley Knight and Theo Tock, each show an edition cap of 5,000 on the live catalog, while the Commons show no cap. That cap is printed on the Muse's own page before you spend anything, so a collector who cares about editions can check the exact number for the exact Muse — no guessing, and no different rule for Lab Muses than for any other room.

Lab Muses and the Themed Collections

A fair question is how a Lab Muse relates to the themed rooms it resembles. Holly Tinsel is a Christmas Muse, but she lives in the Lab Collection, not in the Christmas room — the Lab is a room of its own, organized by when each Muse was brewed rather than by its theme. Think of the themed collections as albums and the Lab Collection as the studio's own shelf: everything the workshop makes goes there first, whatever costume it is wearing.

For collectors, that makes the Lab the discovery room. If you collect by theme, the Lab is where a future favorite often appears first, wearing a theme you already love. If you collect by freshness, it is the only room that changes every hour — the pattern behind new Muse avatars every hour. And if you are still deciding, the Find Your Muse quiz can match you by personality while the Lab keeps brewing in the background.

How to Collect a Lab Muse

Collecting a Lab Muse works exactly like collecting any other Muse. Open the Lab Collection, pick the Muse whose face stops your scroll — Nellie Northpost, pictured at the top of this page, is the newest Common at 50 coins — and unlock it once with Muse Coins. The unlock is permanent: the Muse lives in your Vault with its full prompt pack and conversation style, so Use in Muse can paste the character into Muse for a chat in character, plus the full-resolution artwork download.

Funding that first unlock needs no purchase. A new account gets all 150 welcome Muse Coins at signup, daily rewards add 10 coins a day, and referrals pay 100 coins to you and 50 to a friend on their first unlock — every route is explained in what are Muse Coins?. Start with the newest batch, work backward through the shelf, and check in again in an hour: by the time you have finished reading the room, the Lab will have brewed someone new.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Muse Lab?

The Muse Lab is AllTheMuse's own creation workshop: it brews a new Muse avatar every hour, and every Muse it makes is filed in the Lab Collection with a Muse Lab creator credit and a label showing when it was brewed. The room holds 154 Muses at the time of writing.

How often does the Muse Lab add a new Muse?

Every hour. That is why the Lab Collection keeps growing while the themed collections stay fixed sets — today's October 14 batches alone added Christmas, farm, math, and pet Muses, each labeled by its brewing batch.

How much does a Lab Muse cost?

The same rarity ladder as every Muse: Common 50, Rare 75, Epic 100, Legendary 150, and Mythic 200 Muse Coins. Today's newest drops are five Commons at 50 coins — including Nellie Northpost — and two Rares at 75. A new account's 150 welcome coins cover any single Lab Muse.

Are Lab Muses different from Muses in the themed collections?

Only in how they arrive. A Lab Muse is a finished, named character with a rarity and a fixed coin price, unlocked permanently in your Vault with its prompt pack and download — identical in kind to a themed-room Muse. The difference is filing: Lab Muses live in the Lab Collection, ordered by when they were brewed, whatever theme they wear.
